Text:   Our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, "Famp," passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2012 surrounded by his family. Richard (Dick) was born June 23, 1927 in Murray, Utah to James Clement and Alice Barton Crapo. He was raised in Sandy, Utah with two brothers and two sisters. Dick graduated from Jordan High School. During his freshman year at the University of Utah, he played 'offensive end' on the football team. He then joined the Army and was stationed in Korea for 18 months - after which he was engaged to his sweetheart, Maxine Stowe, prior to service in the Eastern States mission. They married in the Logan Temple. The Korean War brought a recall to active duty at Fort Ord, California. During his military career, his duties included playing for the Army football and basketball teams. After his military service they returned to Sandy, Utah where they raised five children. He graduated from the U. of U. College of Pharmacy. His 43-year career included working at Draper Drug, and at Berntsen Pharmacy in the Salt Lake Clinic. He was elected to one term on the Sandy City Council and years later served on the planning commission. He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. His years as Bishop of the Sandy 5th and 21st Wards brought him great joy. He served for many years in the Jordan River Temple as an ordinance worker with Maxine. Dad's character is marked by unwavering faith, determination, and his endearing gift of pure, simple goodness. He was accepting and genuinely interested in others. His humble, unassuming example was inspiring. Dad's innate gentleness and devotion to Mom is a legacy to his loved ones. His life was truly a testament of his love for the Savior. He is survived by his children, Ronell (Glenda) Crapo, Denille (Wayne) Page, Scott (Sue) Crapo, Jena (Jared) Doxey, and Melyn (Steve) Campbell; 28 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary (Elry) Lundskog and Charlene (Harold) Judd; sisters-in-law, Maxine Flinders and Marilyn Crapo; and brother-in-law, Richard W. (Lucille) Stowe. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Stowe Crapo; his brothers, James B. Crapo and Reed C. Crapo; and one grandson, Nathan Wayne Page.
