Text: Gerald Dudley Root, 81, Pocatello, died Tuesday morning, October 20, 2009, at a local medical center.
He was born on October 11, 1928, in Olympia, Washington, to Sidney Donald and Ethel T. Haney Root. His mother died when he was 4 and his father later married Marie Fryer. Gerald attended schools in Nampa, Idaho.
He married Marie Davies Moots on December 26, 1973.
Gerald had served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1957. He was a member of the American Legion, Chosen Few and the Marine Corps Association. Gerald was employed as a charter bus driver.
He is survived by his wife, Marie, of Pocatello; two sons, Gerald D. (Svetlana) Root Jr., Terrell, Texas, and Sidney Leon (Leigh) Root, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Text: Wesley Warren Sorby, 78, of Suntree passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007. Born in Boston, MA, on August 20, 1929, he relocated to northern California at age 16, and then served in the U.S. Navy from 1948 to 1957.
Wes is survived by his soulmate/life partner, Joanne Burton; daughters, Sandra, Bonnie and Christine; son, David; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Wes enjoyed an innovative career in Palo Alto, CA as an electrical-mechanical designer, including work on the first space shuttle simulator for Nasa-Ames plus laser and optical research for Lockheed, Hughes Electronics, Data Recognition Corp and Hewlett Packard.
The family spent over 20 years in the High Sierra community of Bear Valley, CA, where they contributed to music and art festivals as well as a private high school venture.
Wes and Joanne relocated to Melbourne, FL in 1994, where he continued working at his real passion, as a talented artist. His legacy will live on through his magnificent fine-line Pen and Ink masterpieces.
A private celebration of his life memorial will take place at a later date.
